Keith's Bio
At age 8, Keith received Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior,
and was baptized in a Baptist church in Virginia Beach, VA.
By the time he reached his teens, his family had relocated to the
Washington DC area and had stopped attending church.
Like so many teenagers today, he also experienced the trauma of a broken home as his
parents divorced shortly thereafter. In his youth, he discovered his talent in both sports and
music, playing football for the 1974 National Champion Ferrum
College Panthers, and afterwards, going on the road with secular rock bands.
Keith's tours with secular bands took him to clubs and concert
venues throughout the southeastern United States. Although he was a believer,
he became entangled with the party lifestyle that accompanies entertainers living on the road.
Drugs, alcohol and a general unsubmissive life to Jesus Christ began taking its toll.
Keith knew there was something better. In 1978, through a series of events orchestrated by
God, he came to realize that he needed to use his life and his God-given music talent for the
Kingdom of God.
After making a life-changing commitment to God, and
experiencing a time of repentance and renewal, Keith launched his own Christian
music ministry as God opened the doors. The first door to open was touring with the
Alwyn Wall Band, the first British contemporary
Christian band of its kind to appear in the United States at the beginning of the contemporary
Christian music movement. As drummer and percussionist with the
Alwyn Wall Band,
a Myrrh Records group,
he was privileged to share the stage with artists including
Randy Stonehill,
Don Francisco,
Kenny Marks,
Scott Wesley Brown,
and others.
Because of an extensive national touring schedule, the importance of the local
church in discipling believers began to burn in Keith's heart; not only for himself, but also
for those being reached with the Gospel. Despite offers to perform with other well-known
Christian groups, Keith chose to become actively involved in local church ministry. In 1982,
he was licensed as a minister. Since then, he has served as youth pastor, outreach coordinator,
Bible teacher, orchestra member and in various other ministries, at the invitation of churches
in Virginia and North Carolina.
He formed his own bands, the
Keith Shealy Band,
The Shealy Reiss Project,
and Keith Shealy and Toward The Mark, as tools
to reach out to the local unchurched community. While maintaining their own touring schedule,
the bands also ministered on stage with artists including
Mylon and Broken Heart,
DC Talk,
Morgan Cryar,
Glad and others.
Over the same period of time, Keith has also managed four different
multi-million dollar grossing companies
and enjoys applying many
of the same disciplines he has acquired in business to making his ministry efforts as
effective as possible.
Keith desires to share the life-changing power and good news of
Jesus Christ with this generation in a dynamic and powerful way.
It would be his pleasure to come and share with you in ministry. He has a heart firmly committed to God, God's Word, and ministry to people. He invites you to join hands with him in reaching this generation by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an exciting concert atmosphere.
